• We had a whole school celebration on Thursday. The teachers practiced for a couple of weeks and surprised the students with a song & dance. I will send a link to the video. I think it's safe to say we will all be keeping our day jobs....

Here's what went on this week...

Math: We started Topic 9, which is on adding and subtracting fractions. We began the topic by using fraction tiles to create equivalent fractions. These are useful tools. 

Social Studies: Students finished up their Glogster presentations and started to present them. They all did a great job and taught us a lot about each colony.

Science: Mr. Musselman and Ms. Pavlicek came to Memorial for the electricity show. At the end, Barack gave a charged fist bump to everyone! 

Reading: We started Bud, Not Buddy this week.  This book takes place during the Great Depression. It's about an orphan boy who is on his own. It will be quite the adventure!  Talking tidbits: What connections have you made to the book so far? Some kids have mentioned the movie Annie and even Elf!

Writing: Visualize Action- Then Write. The students looked at a picture of a wild mustang and had to write a non-fiction description of it. We also used the Key Word strategy, where students had to read a piece of non-fiction writing and then use key words to write about their reading
